![]() ![]() I just wish the movie stuck closer to the source material. It may not be the best movie ever made, but it's decent enough to enjoy. 13-year-old Olivea Morton has been cast as Percy Jackson’s nemesis at his mortal school of Yancy Academy, Nancy Bobofit. In the end, it's just a popcorn flick for the family. The comedic elements are there, and the chemistry between the three actors are likeable. The special effects are cool, and the fights are really entertaining. The acting is decent, and Logan Lerman is a decent Percy Jackson. While it was true that Luke is evil, Percy doesn't fight him at the end. For example, in the book, Annabeth is blonde, Percy is 12, and when the car crash happens in the beginning, Grover was supposed to be unconscious. There were certain things the movie just couldn't get right that I didn't think need changing. However, the film stays as far away from the source material as possible, which makes me wonder why the heck this movie was made. The Percy Jackson books were some of my favorite books growing up, and when a movie came out, I couldn't wait to see it. ![]() ![]() In 2014, The Lightning Thief debuted as a one-hour musical at the Lucille Lortel Theatre off-Broadway. The people agreed the olive tree was more useful, and therefore named the city "Athens", in honor of Athena. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure 'worthy of the gods' (Time Out New York). The people realized the tree had many uses: Its fruit for eating, its wood for building and burning, the oil from its fruit for cooking, and for bathing, and the pits of the olives could be planted, therefore bringing up more olive trees. Unfortunately, the water turned out to be too salty, and therefore useless. Poseidon stuck his trident into the ground, and created a spring, from which the townspeople could use the water. Both agreed that they would bestow a gift onto the town, and whichever gift was deemed more useful, that giver would have the town named after him or her. The two choices were Athena and Poseidon, Percy's father. The citizens of the city were arguing over which god, after whom to name the city. The story she tells, is the Greek myth about how the capital city Athens got its name. When in the Parthenon Museum, Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) begins telling Percy (Logan Lerman) a story about her mother, Athena. ![]()
